Entertaiment is a broad and diverse activity, often linked to diversion and amusement. It can involve a single person enjoying a private experience – perhaps solving a crossword puzzle – or a large group participating in a theatrical performance or game. Many entertainments are based on familiar themes, images or structures which have demonstrated the ability to cross over different media and inspire retelling in other forms, such as music (e.g., the Scheherazade story in the Persian professional storytelling tradition, which has inspired composers like Rimsky-Korsakov and Ravel, and film directors such as Pasolini) and video games.
